Tuten Earns Conference Player of the Week
High Point, N.C. — North Greenville University’s Lindsay Tuten has been selected as the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas Women’s Soccer Player of the Week during week number three of the 2013 season.
“Lindsay is incredibly deserving of this award and I believe it was a long time coming,” said head coach Rachel Baer. “It is great to finally have her out on the field competing and I know her teammates respect her so much.”
“She is such a talented player and goal-scorer,” Baer continued. “Yet she is still very humble and will set her teammates up as well. I couldn’t be more proud and I know this is just the first of many successes for Lindsay.”
Forward Lindsay Tuten led the North Greenville soccer program to back-to-back wins this past week, including a win in the team's first conference game of the season.
In the first game of the week Tuten scored a goal in leading the Crusaders to a 2-0 win over Mars Hill College. In the Crusaders' Conference Carolinas' opener, Tuten totaled two goals and one assist, including the game-winning goal in overtime, as North Greenville defeated Mount Olive College in a 3-2 decision.
“I couldn’t be more thankful for being chosen for this award,” Tuten said. “My team and I have worked so hard this season and it’s great that we got these big wins under our belt. We have a lot to prove, but we are ready.”
The Hampton, SC native recorded three goals and one assist as the Crusaders went 2-0 on the week. For the season Tuten leads Conference Carolinas in goals with five scores and 11 total points as North Greenville currently sits at 4-2 overall and 1-0 in conference play.
