Crusaders Earn First Win of 2013
Tigerville, SC – The North Greenville women’s soccer team recorded its first win of the 2013 season with a 1-0 shutout of the Warriors of Southern Wesleyan University on Saturday afternoon.
The Crusaders got on the board early with a goal in the 12th minute from junior Hope Martin who battled through the defense to place a shot past the keeper and give North Greenville the early advantage.
North Greenville and Southern Wesleyan continued to battle back and forth throughout the second half of action to no avail as the Crusaders held the shutout and earned the victory over the Warriors.
Junior Katie Tate recorded six saves during her first shutout of the season as the Warriors outshot North Greenville 9-7 in the contest.
The next contest for the Crusaders will be on Wednesday, Sept. 11 as they travel to Young Harris, GA for a matchup with Young Harris College at 7 p.m.
