Tigerville, SC- The Crusader women’s soccer program opened its five-game homestand with a 1-0 shutout of Barton College on Saturday afternoon in Pepsi Stadium.
After a scoreless first half, North Greenville sophomore forward Carolina Baker settled a bouncing ball in the box and placed the shot in the back of the net to put the Crusaders ahead 1-0 in the 69th minute of play. The Crusader defense held strong and secured the shout out for their fifth win of the season.
Junior keeper Katie Tate recorded just one save as the Crusaders and Bulldogs took three shots each in the contest.
“So proud of my girls and how hard they fought today,” said head coach Rachel Baer. “This was a well-earned victory and it gives us great momentum going into the final four games of the season.”
North Greenville (5-7, 2-4 Conference Carolinas) will host Flagler College on Monday, Oct. 21 at 4 p.m. in Tigerville in a “Pink Game.” Fans are encouraged to wear pink and attend the game in support of Breast Cancer Awareness.
