Tigerville, SC – Two second half goals propelled the North Greenville women’s soccer team to a 2-1 victory over Converse College on Wednesday night in Pepsi Stadium.
The first goal of the game came in the 24th minute as Converse (1-13-1, 1-7-1 in conference ) midfielder Samantha Barron scored on an assist from midfielder Jessica Bosak.
After being down 1-0 at halftime, the Lady Crusaders’ attack intensified with two second half goals that secured the win.
North Greenville broke through with its first goal in the 64th minute as forward Noelle Beasley scored an unassisted goal, her fifth of the season, to tie the game.
As the Lady Crusaders continued to push forward, defender Danielle Smith scored her first career goal in the 88th minute of play. Forward Jade Salle recorded the assist as she drove a corner kick in the box that was put into the back of the net by Smith.
North Greenville outshot Converse 19-10 in the contest as keeper Regina Ibanga recorded four saves.
“I’m proud of how the girls played tonight,” said head coach Jesse McCormick. “They played hard for the full 90 minutes and we are looking forward to a big game against Mount Olive this Saturday.”
The Lady Crusaders (5-7-1, 4-5-1) will now prepare to take on one of Conference Carolinas top team in mount Olive College on Saturday, Oct. 12 at noon in Tigerville.
