Tigerville, SC – The Lady Crusader soccer team fell short in its bid for a second conference win as the Cobras of Coker College used two late goals to down North Greenville 2-1 in overtime on Tuesday night in Pepsi Stadium.
North Greenville and Coker were knotted in a scoreless tie until Cobra defender Carrie Stokes scored the game’s first goal just 17 seconds into the second half give her team a 1-0 advantage.
The Lady Crusaders continued to attack and finally broke through in the 61st minute as forward Jade Salle scored an unassisted goal, her fourth of the season, to tie the game at one goal apiece.
The game-winning goal came from Cobra defender Sarah Rountree as she scored an unassisted goal in the 95th minute to hand North Greenville its third loss in a row.
On the night, the Lady Crusaders outshot Coker 27-5 as Cobra keeper Haley Gibson recorded 10 saves in the game compared to one save by North Greenville keeper Krista Young.
The Lady Crusaders (2-4, 1-2 in conference) will look to climb the Conference Carolinas standings as they play host to Belmont Abbey on Saturday, Sept. 24 at 4 p.m. in Pepsi Stadium.
