Women's soccer makes it five in a row

Spartanburg, S.C. – The North Greenville women’s soccer team defeated Converse College 2-1 on Saturday afternoon to extend their winning streak to five games.

“In the second half we came out and moved the ball well as a team,” said head coach Jesse McCormick. “As we get ready for Regionals in a few weeks we are continuing to work hard and get better.”

Leah Ward scored her team-leading 12th  goal in the 4th minute of action to give the Lady Crusaders the early lead.

However, the Valkyries would score a goal of their own in the 37th minute to make the halftime score 1-1.

The game would stay tied until Ward sent a ball into the box on a corner kick and freshman Cara Cecil scored the game-winning goal on a header in the 76th minute.

The Lady Crusaders will look to continue their winning ways on Nov. 2 against Brewton-Parker College at 5 p.m. in Tigerville.
