Tigerville, SC – Despite limited opportunities, the North Greenville women’s soccer team downed Lees-McRae College 1-0 on Wednesday afternoon.
Lees-McRae, who is ranked in the top 10 in the Division II Southeast region, outshot the Lady Crusaders 10-2 but were unable to get any goals due to the stellar play of Regina Ibanga. Ibanga recorded three saves in the game en route to her third shutout of the season and second shutout in a row.
The Lady Crusaders lone goal came from the foot of Leah Ward who scored her team-leading ninth goal in the 57th minute on an assist from defender Abby Brack.
“It was a great win against a quality team,” said head coach Jesse McCormick. “Everyone came out, stepped up and played well as a team.”
Winners of three-straight, the Lady Crusaders will look to continue their hot streak on Oct. 27 against Montreat College at 7 p.m. in Pepsi Stadium.
