Tigerville, SC –
In a tale of two halves, the Lady Crusader soccer team lost a heart-breaking match to Erskine College 3-2 on Thursday afternoon.
“Early on we played well,” said head coach Jesse McCormick. “I felt like in the second half we had some complacency and that allowed [Erskine] to get back into the game.”
North Greenville dominated the first half scoring two goals and taking a commanding 2-0 halftime lead.
The first goal of the game was scored when midfielder Jade Salle placed a cornerkick in the box and freshman Hope Martin was able to find her way through traffic to score. Lead Ward scored her seventh goal of the season to give the Lady Crusaders the two-goal advantage. Salle recorded her second assist of the game on the goal.
However, the Lady Flying Fleet came out prepared to attack in the second half, scoring three goals in the final 15 minutes to claim victory.
North Greenville will look to rebound tomorrow afternoon as they host Mount Olive College at 2 p.m.
