The North Greenville women’s soccer team wrapped up it 2009 regular season on a frigid Thursday night against the King College Tornadoes out of Bristol, Tennessee. The speedy Tornadoes out possessed and out-shot the Lady Crusaders to a 1-0 win.
The Tornadoes outshot the Crusaders 17-5 in the 90 minute match. The King College goal came in the 34th minute when Lauren Fritts slipped the ball past an attacking Jessica Binkley. Binkley however racked up 8 saves and was a bright spot for NGU. The Crusaders played two starters down as Leah Ward and Emily Pittman were nursing minor injuries in preparation for the post season.
The Crusaders will open post season play on November 17th at home against Truett McConnell at 6pm. The game against Truett McConnell will be a “play in game” with the winner earning a spot in the NCCAA regional tournament. The Lady Crusaders defeated Truett earlier in the year with a score of 2-1.
