Banner Elk, N.C.-
In past years, the NGU women’s soccer team has been one of the more successful teams in Tigerville.
The Lady Crusaders looked continue the programs success in the 2009 season with a win in the first game of the season over Lees-McRae.
Throughout the game the Lady Bob Cats controlled the tempo of the game, however in the 51st minute of the game North Greenville’s Ashlyn Henderson gathered a loose ball in front of the goal and put it just under the cross bar to give the Crusaders a 1-0 lead.
The Henderson goal would be all the Crusaders needed to post the first win of the 2009 season. “It was a good first win” says head coach Jesse McCormick “hopefully this will give our girls some early confidence to know they can win close matches.”
With the win, the Crusaders are 1-0 on the season. The next match for the Lady Crusaders will be Thursday, September 3 at 7pm in Tigerville, at the Pepsi Soccer Field on the Campus of North Greenville University.
