LAURINBURG, N.C.— St. Andrews Presbyterian scored on a penalty kick in the 55th minute and the Lady Knights made that total stand up for a closed 1-0 win over North Greenville Saturday afternoon.
The Crusaders saw their four game win streak ended on the PK by Nina Capuano. North Greenville held a slim 5-4 advantage in shots after 45 minutes including all three shots on goal. Crusader junior Kaileigh Meara (Greenville, S.C.) had two shots on goal but Knights’ senior goalkeeper Garrison Burton made the save both times.
SAPC outshot NGU 8-3 in the second half. They finished with a 12-8 shot advantage and took seven of the eight corner kicks in the contest. NGU ‘keeper Jessica Brinkley (Simpsonville, S.C.) had one save for NGU.
The Crusaders (7-4) will host their final home game of the year on Oct. 22 when they close out the home campaign against Toccoa Falls at 2:00 p.m. at Younts Stadium.
