Lady Crusaders fall in close game at Coker

Hartsville, SC- Coker College defeated North Greenville University 3-2 in a non-conference collegiate soccer match Tuesday afternoon.

North Greenville was first to strike scoring just 15 minutes into the game. Danielle Duff received a pass from Whitney Doublestein and then chipped a shot just over the head of Coker keeper Krista Coleman for a 1-0 lead.

The Cobras answered just 10 minutes later when Megan Shaver hit a one-time cross from Laura Bedenbaugh into the back of the net. The score remained tied at one through the first half, until Doublestein gave the Crusaders the lead again just three minutes into the second half.

Coker would even the score again in the 61st minute when Shaver scored her second goal of the game, this time off a penalty kick. Then with just seconds remaining in the game, Bedenbaugh gave the Cobras the win when she chipped the game winning ball over the head of Jessica Binkley and into the back of the net.
