Tigerville, S.C. – North Greenville earned its first Conference Carolinas win of the season in convincing fashion on Thursday, routing Barton College 19-1.
Barton took the early draw but North Greenville quickly took control of the game. Madison Boudreau scored the first goal of the game, setting off an NGU offensive attack that scored 11 unanswered goals on the first year program from Wilson.
Boudreau scored once more during the run with two assists while Hanna Hawkins and Aly Estes also scored twice. Barton’s only goal of the game came with 2:24 left on the clock when Kianna Jimenez found the back of the net. North Greenville carried an 11-1 lead into halftime.
North Greenville played most of the game on the Bulldog side of the field on Thursday, firing 35-shots, 27 of which were on target. Hanna Hawkins finished the day as NGU’s leading scorer with four scores. Boudreau added one more score in the second half to finish with three for the day. Three other players finished with two scores.
Defensively, North Greenville was led by Jillian Cheisa who finished with five caused turnovers and seven ground balls. Sydney Taylor saw little action in the cage but finished the day with three saves.
The Crusaders scored eight more in the second half, all of which were unanswered by the Bulldogs. Hawkins scored her third of the day less than a minute into the game with another a few minutes later to extend the lead to 13-1. Boudreau scored once more with a pair of goals from Monica Colwell that made the score 17-1. Aly Estes and Kaitlin Yenson put the finishing touches on the day with back-to-back scores.
North Greenville improved to 3-4 overall and 1-2 in league play. The Crusaders will host the University of Montevallo on Saturday afternoon at 2pm.
