Gaffney, S.C.—North Greenville women's lacrosse suffered its second loss of the season on Wednesday as #11 Limestone earned an 18-0 over the Crusaders.
The Saints scored 12 goals in the first half as they broke the 0-0 tie early on with a goal at the 27:57 mark. The second goal came quickly as Limestone's Jaylen Schulte found the back of net at 25:08 mark of the first period. Limestone wrapped up the half scoring three goals in the final five minutes of play, putting the Crusaders in a 12-0 hole at halftime.
North Greenville was finally able to put a couple shots on net in the second period as Natalie Dufresne and Hanna Hawkins delivered NGU's only two shots on goal. Dufresne's shot sailed wide while Saints keeper Diana Rice picked up a save on Hawkins' shot with 10:15 left in the game. Limestone would tack on six more goals in the second period spread out between five different players.
North Greenville committed 27-turnovers in Wednesday's loss. The Saints finished with 38-shots on goal. North Greenville keeper Sydney Taylor was a bright spot for the Crusaders as she recorded 12 saves against the Conference Carolinas pre-season favorites.
The Crusaders fell to 0-2 after the loss and will return to the field on Saturday for the first home game of 2016. NGU will host Saint Andrews College in Pepsi Stadium at 2pm.
