Franklin Springs, Ga.—A late game North Greenville rally fell short on Monday night as the women's lacrosse team dropped a 13-10 game to Emmanuel College.
The Crusaders and Lions traded goals during the first half on Monday's Conference Carolinas showdown, as neither team was able to find a comfortable advantage. Nikki Colwell scored the hat trick for the Crusaders in the first half, while Emily Colson and Natalie Dufresne both scored one as the two teams headed to halftime tied 5-5.
Emmanuel grabbed the upper hand early in the second half, scoring five unanswered goals to earn a 10-5 advantage. Colwell eventually ended the North Greenville dry spell with 15:59 left on the clock to make the score 10-6. Colwell finished the game with six goals for the Crusaders to lead all scorers.
North Greenville trailed 13-7 with 4:40 left, before a flurry of goals from the Crusaders pulled NGU to within three. Colwell and sister Monica Colwell both scored in less than a minute to make the score 13-9 before Brittany Battisti capped the scoring with NGU's 10th goal before the clock ran out on NGU's comeback attempt.
The Crusaders fell to 0-4 on the season after Monday's loss with a March 6th game against Limestone College on the horizon. NGU and the Saints will face off at 6pm in Tigerville.
