The inaugural squad at NGU wrapped up their first ever fall season with a Red versus White scrimmage on October 24th. The two teams were evenly matched and showed plenty of talent to give the audience of about one hundred fans a glimpse of the future.
There were plenty of stand out players; Nikki Colwell, Natalie Dufresne, and Candace Petit. Lowri Gowing played huge for the white team in goal, coming up with enough big saves to give the White Team the 7-5 win.
Overall, both of the teams showed great improvement. From beginning the fall season with a brand new squad, the Lady Crusaders showed great hope for the future for the sport of lacrosse at North Greenville. The ladies had their first win of the fall over Southern Virginia University on October 4th. Nikki Colwell led the offense with four goals, and one assist. Sister, Monica Colwell also contributed with two goals.
The fall season has been a preparation for the spring, as the Lady Crusaders are now strength training and conditioning for the inaugural season at North Greenville. Coach Bayne is certainly thrilled with his team and their progression, “I am extremely proud of the coaching staff, as well as the captains. The improvement of the team has been amazing.” The women’s lacrosse team at North Greenville will kick off their spring season at home on February 6th versus Point University at home.
