Anderson, S.C. – North Greenville women’s golf wrapped up its first tournament of the 2016-2017 season on Tuesday with a ninth place finish at the Anderson University Invitational.
Improvement was the theme of the team’s first round tournament as four players improved at least five strokes from round one to round two.
Morgan Reece chalked up NGU’s only top 25 finish as she carded out with a two-day total of 167, placing her in 22nd overall. Reece shot an 86 on the first day of the tournament but improved five strokes in round two as she shot an 81.
Ashlynn Mullis was second on the team for NGU with a total of 174. Mullis checked in with a 91 after round one but she also improved on day two, shaving off eight strokes for a round two score of 83. Megan Miller continued the string of improvement from round one to round two as she cut off 10-strokes. Miller shot a 94 on Monday but finished the week with an 84.
Sarah Dutton finished fourth on the team with a two-day total of 179, shooting an 89 on day one and a 90 on day two.
The biggest mover for the Crusaders was Rachel Huber who improved 15-strokes from round one to round two. Huber holed out with a 98 after round one but improved to shoot an 83 in Tuesday’s final round.
The Crusaders will take the course again on September 12th at the Converse College Fall Invitational, hosted by Carolina Country Club in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
