Browns Summit, N.C. – North Greenville men’s and women’s golf wrapped up the 2016 season on Tuesday with finishes of 6th and 9th place at the Conference Carolinas Championships.
Morgan Reece paced the NGU women as she finished tied for 26th. Reece carded an 86 on day one, but improved four strokes on day two and three, finishing with a pair of 82’s. Reece finished the three-day tournament with a score of 250.
Ashlynn Mullis finished second on the team and tied for 28th place. Mullis shot 85 on day one, but followed it up with her best round as a Crusader, shooting a 76. She capped the tournament with a 94, finishing with a three round total of 225.
Meghan Heald finished in 33rd for NGU with an 85 on day one and a pair of 86’s to wrap up the second and third rounds. Ansley Brock shot a 94 and a 98 in rounds one and two, but improved 15-strokes in the third round as she shot an 83 while Sarah Dutton sandwiched a 94 between a 92 and a 91.
Christian Constance turned in the best finish for the NGU men as his three round total of 225 earned him a 14th place finish. Constance shot a 77 on day one but finished the three-day competition with a pair of 74’s.
Evan Gfellfer was NGU’s next best qualifier as he wrapped up the week in 22nd. Gfeller shot a 76 in round one, followed by a 73 and a 79. His three round total was 228.
Seth Robertson, the newly crowned Conference Carolinas Freshman of the year finished tied with Gfeller in the 22nd spot. The freshman shot a 78 in round one, but improved each time out, carding a 77 in round two and a 73 in round three.
Vijay Mishra finished in 25th for the Crusaders with a pair of 76’s and a 78 while Chase Fisher earned the 32nd spot with a three round total of 233. Fisher shot a 74 on day one and followed it up with a 78 and an 81.
The NGU men’s team will now wait for a bid to the NCAA Southeast Regional Tournament.
