Salisbury, N.C.—The North Greenville Women's golf team wrapped up the fall portion of its schedule on Tuesday with an 11th place finish at the annual Patsy Rendleman Invitational.
West Georgia walked away with the Tournament Title while UNC Pembroke, Tusculum, King University, and Lenoir-Rhyne rounded out the top five. The Crusaders finished a spot behind Conference Carolinas foe Converse College and just in of Erskine College, another league rival.
Morgan Reece turned in NGU's only top 20 finish as she finished in a six-way tie for the 20th spot. Reece shot an 80 on both days of the tournament to finish with a 160 for a 36 hole total. Lauren Childs finished 30th for NGU shooting an 81 on both days.
Ashlynn Mullis finished with scores of 87 and 82 while Ansley Brock improved eight strokes on day two with an 83 following a 91 stroke performance on Monday. Callie Taylor rounded out NGU's performers with a 176.
The NGU Men's Golf Team also returned to the course this week, and turned in a solid performance with a fourth place finish. Belmont Abbey earned the title at its own tournament, while Limestone and Emmanuel Colleges finished in the second and third spots.
The Crusaders were led by Chase Fisher who shot a 150 after 36 holes of play. Fisher shot a 76 in his first round but gained two strokes on day two, shooting a 74. Evan Gfeller finished second on the team with a 152 while Mac Bradley shot a 154. Gfeller carded round totals of 78 and 74 while Bradley turned in scores of 78 and 76.
All of NGU's golfers improved on their day one scores as Christian Constance and Seth Robertson also moved up. Constance shot an 88 on Day one but was the team's biggest mover, improving 10 strokes to shoot a 76 on Tuesday. Seth Robertson also improved on day two, gaining three strokes after shooting an 84 and an 81.
The women's team will be back on the course in February. As for the NGU men, the Crusaders will play in the UNA Fall Classic on October 19-20 and wrap up the falls schedule on October 26-27 at the Matt Dyas Memorial Invitational hosted by West Georgia.
