WOMEN'S GOLF GEARS UP FOR 2014-2015 SEASON
The Lady Crusaders will begin their fall season this Monday at the Converse Fall Invitational Presented by: Founders Credit Union just down the road in Spartanburg at Carolina Country Club.

The women will play 18 holes Monday and 18 holes Tuesday on the 6,100 yard Tom Jackson championship layout.  Carolina Country Club has played host to the Web.com Tour's BMW Charity Pro-Am from 2007-2011. This will the first trip to the Converse Fall Invitational for the women's golf program.

The "new look" Lady Crusaders welcome a trio of new Freshman to the team, along with some familiar faces in the starting 5. The new faces of Morgan Reece, Erin Campbell and Caroline Reid have added a new breath of fresh air and competitiveness to the women's team. "I am excited about our freshman girls this year, they have come in and worked extremely hard and added a completely new level of competitive spirit to the team." said Associate Head Coach Brad Caldwell.

Returning to the line-up will be the Junior duo of Lauren Childs and Callie Taylor.  Both Childs and Taylor played in every tournament of the spring season last year and both posting career low rounds of 79.  Once again leading the North Greenville women this year will be the lone senior and 2013-14 Conference Carolinas Second Team All-conference member AnnaLeis Dibert.

Dibert led the team last season with a scoring average of 80.2 and posted 3 top 10 finishes during her '13-'14 campaign.  "We will miss our two seniors from a year ago tremendously but I know the women are excited to get started this weekend, we have put in some very long hours the past three weeks and we have a little bit of a different look this year. I'm anxious to see who will step up to the challenge" added Coach Caldwell

After seeing success with a runner-up finish at the Conference Carolinas Championships and winning the first ever team tournament title in 2012-13, the Lady Crusaders improved their strength of schedule to compete against some of the top competition across NCAA DII.  The tournament results of a season ago were not as note worthy as prior years but the women gained valuable experience and learned a great deal to prepare for the future.  This fall the women will compete in only three total tournaments.

After competing down the road at Converse the Lady Crusaders will travel to a familiar place of Link Hills Country Club at the Tusculum Fall Classic in Greeneville, TN and following with a trip to the 2014 Patsy Rendlemen Invitational hosted by Catawba College at the prestigious Country Club of Salisbury. This marks the 5th consecutive year the women have competed in these tournaments. "I wanted to play in just three events this fall to give us the best chance to win a conference championship by adding an additional event this spring.  This fall the freshman will get some good experience and with our strategically planned spring schedule, we will hopefully be peaking at the right time to win the conference next April" said Coach Caldwell.
