NGU TAKES HOME SIXTH TOP 10 FINISH

Greenville, Tenn—The North Greenville women’s golf team wrapped up its 2014 regular season on Tuesday afternoon, finishing in a seventh place tie with Anderson and Shorter Universities.

The rain shortened, Agnes McAmis Memorial was the final tune up match for the Crusaders before playing in the Conference Carolinas Tournament next weekend. The seventh place finish is the fifth consecutive top ten finish for NGU, and sixth of the season.

The tournament was originally scheduled for two days, but rain and bad course conditions cut the tournament to an 18-hole contest. Denise Shirley pace NGU with a top 15 finish, turning in a final round 78, good enough for a 14th place finish.  AnnaLeis Dibert and Lauren Childs both turned in an 82 for the Crusaders putting them in 31st while Anna Padgett and Callie Taylor finished with an 85 and 87 respectively.

The Crusaders finished ahead of the likes of Lincoln Memorial, Catawba College, Mars Hill, and Lenoir-Rhyne, all members of the South Atlantic Conference. The Crusaders will take part in the league tournament next week, April 13-15 at the Bryan Park Champions Course, in Greensboro, North Carolina.
