CRUSADERS TAKE HOME 4TH AT CLIFFS INTERCOLLEGIATE
Travelers Rest, S.C.—The North Greenville women’s golf team put together a solid showing at the inaugural Cliffs Intercollegiate this week, posting a fourth place finish with a two day total of 661.
North Greenville hosted the tournament, and welcomed eight other teams to the newly opened Cliffs at Mountain Park course. The Cliffs Intercollegiate was the first college tournament hosted at the new course.
North Greenville finished the tournament with four players finishing in the top 20, including Anna Padgett who turned in the only top 10 finish of the tournament for the Crusaders. Padgett shot a two day total of 159 to lead all North Greenville individual competitors. Also placing top 20 finishes for North Greenville were AnnaLeis Dibert and Denise Shirley who finished back to back. Dibert finished with a 167 total finishing her in 16th while Shirley cashed in a 168 for a 17th place finish. Callie Taylor also finished tied for 17th with a 168.
NGU had one other finisher in the top 30 in Lauren Childs who’s 176 earned her a tie in the 27th spot. Amber Doyle rounded out the tournament top 40 with a 223. North Greenville finished 12 strokes off of the tournament winner the University of Mount Olive which finished the tournament shooting a 649. The Crusaders finished ahead of Conference Carolinas foes Barton, Belmont Abbey, and Pfeiffer.
The Crusaders will play in one more tournament during the regular season next week when the Travel to Greenville, Tennessee for the Agnes McAmis Memorial. The Memorial will be a final tune-up for NGU before playing in the league championship on April 11-15.
