Lady Crusaders Complete Fall Season
In the last tournament of the semester, the Lady Crusaders visited Conover, NC to compete in the 2013 Rock Barn Intercollegiate Invitational. Competing against some of the top teams in Division II golf, the Lady Crusaders were ready to put their best foot forward and enjoy the new opportunity of playing at a higher competition.
Entering the tournament as the number one ranked team in the nation, Lynn University did not disappoint. Shooting a 2-day total of 565, Lynn took home the trophy in under-par fashion. Tarleton State, Central Oklahoma, Dallas Baptist, and Columbus State complete the list of the top 5 finishing teams.
North Greenville started the second round in seventh place; however, the ladies found themselves in tenth place by the end of the day. Sophomore, Ashley Carrell led the Lady Crusaders with a total of 153 (73-80). She finished T23, while Junior AnnaLeis Dibert finished T35 with a 159 total (78-81).
Seniors, Anna Padgett (86-80) and Denise Shirley (83-87) found themselves a top 55 finish. Sophomore Callie Taylor finished T62 (86-88).
Assistant Coach, Brad Caldwell stated, “ I was really anxious to see how the girls did competing against many of the top teams in the NCAA Division II field. We learned a great amount from this tournament that will make us better come spring season.” Rock Barn Golf Club will be the host of the 2014 NCAA Division II National Golf Championships.
