Crusader Golf Competes In North Carolina
Salisbury, NC – In their second tournament of the fall season, the North Greenville University women’s golf team struggled to finish 13th overall with a team score of 326-335-661 in the two-day tournament known as the Patsy Rendleman Invitational.
UNC Pembroke earned the team title with a total of 317-311-628 over two rounds of play. Newberry College was just three strokes behind with a team score of 314-317-631 to claim second place, while Queens University of Charlotte (323-312-635) made a dramatic rise up the leaderboard to finish third overall. University of Montevallo (319-319-638) and University of West Georgia (332-307-639) also rose in the rankings to round of the Top 5 in the team standings.
Newberry’s Marianna Monaco shot a two-day total of 72-77-149 to take home the individual crown, while West Georgia’s Jessica Danford (79-72-151) and Catawba’s Leslie Long (74-77-151) tied for second place overall.
For North Greenville, senior Anna Padgett led the way with a tie for 20th place after shooting a total score of 81-78-159 as teammate and fellow senior Denise Shirley followed close behind with a score of 75-86-161 to finish in a tie for 27th place.
Sophomore Ashley Carrell tied for 47th overall with a two-day total of 81-85-166, while junior AnnaLeis Dibert (89-86-175) and sophomore Lauren Childs (90-87-177) finished 69th and 71st respectively.
The Crusader will look to bounce back next week when they travel to Panama City Beach, FL to compete in the NCCAA National Championships on Oct. 20-23.
