Women's Golf Continues Recent Streak Of Success
Greeneville, TN – Fresh off of the first tournament victory in team history, the North Greenville University women’s golf team shot the two lowest round totals in program history as the Crusaders earned a third place finish in the 17-team field at the Agnes McAmis Memorial.
Host school Tusculum College shot a two-day total of 310-305-615 to earn the overall title, while 8th ranked Lander University shot 310-306-316 to claim a runner up finish. The Crusaders totaled 312-316-328 to claim third place, while Lincoln Memorial (320-312-332) and Shorter University (322-317-639) rounded out the Top 5 finisher in the team standings.
Lander’s Gaballer Hernani won the individual title with a total score of 71-75-146, four strokes ahead of four individuals tied for second place with scores of 150 over the two rounds.
For North Greenville, freshman Ashley Carrell finished in a tie for seventh overall with a total of 79-74-153, while AnnaLeis Dibert continued her recent success with a tie for 10th overall, shooting 74-80-154 over two rounds.
Other individual scores for the Crusaders included Anna Padgett, who finished tied for 21st after shooting 78-81-159 and Denise Shirley, who shot 81-81-162 to finish in a tie for 33rd place.
Callie Taylor rounded out the individual scores, shooting a two-day total 90-93-183 to finish in a tie for 88th overall.
"This is a huge finish for us,” said assistant coach Brad Caldwell. “There were seven teams from our conference here this week and we beat all of them. That gives a ton of confidence going into next week’s Conference Tournament."
The Crusaders will be in action again on April 22 as they compete in the Conference Carolinas Tournament in Winston-Salem, NC.
