Columbus, GA – The North Greenville University women’s golf team opened up the spring portion of its schedule with a rain-shortened one-round tournament hosted by Columbus State University. The Crusaders finished tied for 7th overall in the field of 12 teams in the Lady Cougar Collegiate Classic.
Lander University won the overall team title with a score of 321, just one stroke ahead of Catawba College (322). UNC-Pembroke and Tusculum College each shot 324 to tie for third place, while Columbus State University rounded out the Top 5 with a score of 330 in the lone round of the tournament.
Lander’s Teresa Caballer-Hernani won the individual title in a one-hole playoff after shooting a score of 35-37-72 in the tournament.
AnnaLeis Dibert was the top finisher for North Greenville with a total score of 40-44-84 to tie for 22nd place. Anna Padgett followed close behind with a tie for 24th after shooting 41-44-85, while Callie Taylor (47-40-87), Denise Shirley (47-40-87) and Ashley Carrell (42-45-87) tied with one another for 36th overall.
The Crusaders will take to the links again on March 11-12 as they travel to Carrolton, GA to compete in the UWG Golf Invitational.
