Salisbury, NC – In the final Fall match before the NCCAA Championships, the North Greenville University women’s golf team recorded a 13th overall finish in the Patsy Rendleman Invitational.
For the two-day tournament, the Crusaders shot a total score of 337-344-681 to tie in 13th place with Barton College. Newberry College took home the overall team title with a score of 294-304-598, a commanding 17-stroke victory over Tusculum College which shot a total score of 308-307-615. Lincoln Memorial (310-314-624), UNC-Pembroke (321-311-633) and King College (314-328-642) rounded out the Top 5 in the team standings.
In the individual standings, Newberry’s Barbara Castro took home the trophy with a two-round total of 69-73-142, two strokes ahead of Tusculum’s Emee Herbet, who finished the tournament with a total score of 72-72-144.
North Greenville’s top finisher was junior Denise Shirley who earned a tie for 41st with a total score of 81-85-166. Junior Anna Padgett followed close behind with a score of 82-85-167 to finish tied for 44th, while freshman Callie Taylor finished tied for 59th with a score of 86-87-173. Sophomore AnnaLeis Dibert tied for 64th overall with a score of 88-87-175 and sophomore Paige Donaldson rounded out the individual scoring for the Crusaders, finishing 79th overall with a two-round total of 90-94-184.
The Crusaders will now have a week to prepare for the NCCAA Championship which will be held on Oct. 22-24 in Panama City Beach, FL.
