Calera, AL – In their first match of the 2012 season, the North Greenville women’s golf team earned an 8th place finish in the Full Moon Bar-B-Que Montevallo Invitational hosted by the University of Montevallo.
Lander University recorded the lowest total team score to earn the team title with a two-day score of 297-313-610, four stroke ahead of second place Columbus State (310-304-614). Shorter University (316-310-626), University of West Georgia (312-316-628) and North Georgia (316-313-639) rounded out the Top 5 as North Greenville fell 86 shots off the pace with a team total of 348-348-696.
In the individual standings, Columbus State’s Kimesha Anthony earned the win with a two-day total of 74-72-146, a narrow victory over Lander’s Teresa Caballer Hernani who shot a total score of 70-78-148.
For the Crusaders, Anna Padgett was the highest placing team member, finishing tied for 22nd with a total score of 80-82-162, while AnnaLeis Dibert earned herself a tie for 32nd place with a score of 84-83-167. Denise Shirley finished just one shot back of Dibert, tying for 34th with a score of 87-81-168. Amber Doyle shot a two-day total of 97-102-199 to earn a 42nd place finish, while Lauren Childs shot 97-103-200 to finish in 43rd place overall.
The Crusaders will be in action again on Sept. 24-25 as they travel to Greeneville, TN to compete in the Tusculum Fall Classic.
