Tigerville, SC – The North Greenville University women’s golf team narrowly missed winning their first ever tournament, finishing second in the Cherokee Valley Invitational on the Cherokee Valley Golf Course.
As a team, North Greenville led after the first round but struggled in round two, losing to team champion Erskine College by three strokes.
As a team the Crusaders shot 328-341-669, compared to a two-day total of 442-324-666 by the Flying Fleet. Brevard College (725), Mars Hill College (734) and Limestone College (735) rounded out the Top 5.
In the individual standings, Erskine’s Rachel Moore claimed the title with an overall score of 79-77-156, just two strokes ahead of second place finisher Brittany Zine of Barton.
For the Crusaders, Anni Dibert finished third overall with a two-day score of 78-82-160. Anna Padgett (85-84) and Regan Ouzts (83-86) both tied for 8th with identical scores of 169, while Denise Shirley claimed a Top 10 finish with a score of 82-89-171.
Other scores for North Greenville include Paige Donaldson, who tied for 17th with a score of 93-91-184 and Amber Doyle who shot 105-106-211 to finish in 27th place.
The Lady Crusaders will look to continue their success on April 9-10 when they compete in the Aramark Collegiate Invitational in Etowah, NC.
