On a day full of clouds and rain the North Greenville women’s golf team couldn’t make up enough ground. The Lady Crusaders played better in the final round but finished in 4th place in their first event of the 2011 fall campaign. Defending team champion Lincoln Memorial University won the team event for the second year in a row after a final round total of 311 for a two day total of 632, followed by Wingate University at 652, Milligan College at 685, NGU at 720, and Mars Hill College at 759.
Lincoln Memorial also produced the individual champion for the event as Desta Coaker fired a final round, and tournament low, 75 for a two day total of 156.
The Lady Crusaders were lead by Freshman Anna Leis Dibert who battled a nagging wrist injury to a final round 88 posting a two day total of 174 finishing 12th, also posting top 20 finishes were Sophomore Anna Padgett finishing 18th with a two day total of 177 and Sophomore Denise Shirley finishing 20th with a two day total of 180.
“ We got off to a rough start both days and couldn’t rebound quick enough, but the girls are learning and are hard workers, so we’ll get back at it this week and get ready for next week.” said Head Coach Jeff Pittillo.
The Lady Crusaders are back in action next week as they travel to Link Hills Country club in Greeneville, TN for the Tusculum College Fall Classic September 26th and 27th.
