Charleston, S.C.—The North Greenville men’s cross country team competing in the inaugural Citadel Bulldog Invitational on Saturday morning finishing in 3rd place. The Crusaders top three finish comes on the heels of a first place finish a week ago at the CIU Invitational in Columbia. The North Greenville women’s cross country team also performed well placing 5th at the same race.
The Crusaders were paced by Brett Morley who ran 26:33 which was good enough for a third place finish. Ahmad Nesbitt also finished with a top ten time after posting a time of 26:59. NGU’s Stefan Shealy rounded out the top 20 with a time of 29:03. As a team, the Crusaders rounded out the top 3 with an average time of 28:15.
For the ladies, Kelly Knutson was the top runner with a time of 21:38. Knutson placed 17th individually. Ansley Bolton was also a top performer for NGU posting a time of 22:39 while Allison Beam clocked in at 23:06. The Crusaders finished the day with a combined average of 23:04, bettering their time a week ago by a minute.
Both teams will run in familiar territory next Saturday when they take part in the Furman Invitational in Greenville at 9am.
