Lady Crusaders finish 4th at Blue Hose Invitational

CLINTON, S.C. The Lander University women’s cross country squad claimed the Sixth Annual Lady Blue Hose Invitational with 77 points on Friday afternoon as the Bearcats had three runners finished in the Top 10. Taylor Hansen of Newberry College took individual honors as she finished the 5K course in 19:31.21. North Greenville finished fourth in the 10-team field with a score of 146. Lindsey Graham set the pace for the Crusaders with a 12th place finish (20:48.10). Amy Givens finished 27th (21:54.61) and Jessica Boisse finished 29th (21:56.36). This is the second consecutive year that Lander has won the Lady Blue Hose Invitational. Lander and Presbyterian have each won the invitational twice since the first one in 2000. Anna Lohmann paced the Bearcats with her sixth-place finish, completing the race in 20:19.82. Margaret Mobley and Olga Nunez-Lopez were separated by three seconds as Mobley finished eighth in 20:25.53 and Nunez-Lopez ninth in 20:28.74.

Francis Marion’s Kelly May led the Patriots to a second-place finish and 83 points as May finished second with a time of 19:42.40. Jocelyn Veit of Spartanburg Methodist took third, running the course in 19:46.17. May and Veit swapped spots from last year as Veit was the runner-up and May placed third a year ago.
