Season Preview: Women's Basketball 2018-19

The 2018-19 North Greenville women's basketball team will make its debut this Wednesday against the College of Charleston Cougars. The Crusaders come off of a 8-21 record from last season, but were able to shock the top-seeded Limestone Saints in the first round of the Conference Carolinas Tournament and nearly pulled off another upset against the Barton Bulldogs. This season's team will feature some familiar faces as well as several key newcomers. Angel McGowan will make her head coaching debut for NGU, and will hope to lead North Greenville to its first winning season since 2011-12.

Players to Watch

Karen Donehew, a Conference Carolinas First Team All-Conference member last season, will begin the season just eight points away from a thousand career points. She posted a .457 field goal percentage last season and led the team with 7.2 rebounds per game.

Bailey Breazeale started just seven games last season, but made quite an impact as a post player with a .503 field goal percentage and averaged 6.6 points per game. She also led the team in offensive rebounds with 34 and blocks with 31.

Elizabeth Trentham returns as a strong post-presence. She averaged 3.1 rebounds per game and was tied for second on the team in offensive rebounds with 33.

Kira Bell looks to make an immediate impact as a transfer from South Carolina State University. While playing for the Bulldogs, she recorded a .387 field goal percentage and 28 total rebounds.
