Tigerville, S.C. -- The Lady Crusaders trip in nail biting overtime finish to Bulldogs, 86-83. The Crusaders played a back and forth game with 20 total lead changes between the two teams.
Both teams came in hot, scoring 36-35 in the first half. Crusaders began to trail in the third period as the 13-9 Bulldogs pulled ahead taking a 61-51 lead at the two-minute mark. With the help of leading scorers Karen Donehew, who scored 19, along with Elizabeth Trentham and Alicia Jones with 15 a piece, the Crusaders were able to close the 10-point gap to 61-58.
The Crusaders trailed by two with less than a minute remaining, but a technical foul on the Bulldogs earned the Crusaders a pair of free throws which evened the score at 77-77. Neither team could score in the final seconds of reculation, leading to overtime. Turnovers and fouls would be the eventual undoing for Crusaders as the Bulldogs were able to capitalize in overtime to pull ahead until the final second.
The NGU Crusaders (9-11 overall, 6-9 Conference Carolina) will take to the road on Feburary 7th to take on Limestone College.
