Misenheimer, N.C. – North Greenville rode a hot shooting first quarter to its second Conference Carolinas win of the season on Wednesday night as the Crusaders topped Pfeiffer 60-47.
The Crusaders held the Falcons to a season low seven points in the first half while scoring 20-points on the offensive end to carry a 13-point lead into the second quarter. The Falcons Found an offensive rhythm in the second quarter though and cut NGU’s lead to eight points at halftime.
North Greenville continued to lead but the Falcons kept chipping away and eventually worked their way back into contention as a layup with 7-minutes left in the game cut the lead to 45-42. Karen Donehew would score the next four points to extend the lead to seven points for the Crusaders.
NGU would finish the game on a 13-5 run to earn its second win over the Falcons in just over a week. The conference win was on the heels of a new career high for Karen Donehew who led all players with 29-points to go along with seven rebounds. Mycala Wolfe also got in on the action with 11-points. Elizabeth Trentham had a solid game with seven points.
The Crusaders will travel to Central, South Carolina on Saturday to take on Southern Wesleyan University. Tipoff is scheduled for 2pm.
