Late rally comes up short as women fall to Emmanuel

Franklin Springs, GA - The North Greenville women's basketball team fell to 1-5 on the season after a 65-61 loss to Emmanuel College, Tuesday night in Conference Carolinas action.

The Crusaders are 0-2 in league play while the Lions improved to 2-0. Cameron Carter scored a game high 31 points while Emily Wampler scored 10. North Greenville shot 39 percent from the field while the Lions finished with a 40 percent shooting performance.

North Greenville led by two points at halftime, leading by as many as 12 points. The Lions nabbed the lead in the third on the strength of a 13-0 run which earned them a 42-31 advantage with 5:42 left in the third. Emmanuel would extend the lead to 54-41 as the teams headed into the fourth quarter.

The Crusaders continued to trail well into the fourth quarter before finally making a move, cutting an 11-point deficit to just four points, with 1:25 left in the game. Carter would cut the lead to 64-61 with a three pointer but the Lions would put the game away with free throws in the final seconds.

The Crusaders will return home on December 5th to host Bob Jones College at 7pm in Hayes Gymnasium.
