CRUSADERS FALL TO NORTH GEORGIA IN FIRST GAME OF NIGHTHAWK CLASSIC
Dahlonega, Ga—North Greenville’s women’s basketball team fell to 1-3 overall on the year on Friday night after an 86-73 loss to North Georgia College & State in NGU’s first game of the Nighthawk Classic.
Alisha Hope scored a season high 19 points, during the Friday night matchup, while Timisty Nelson was NGU’s only other double digit scorer with 18. The two squads traded the lead several times in the first half, but the Nighthawks ended the period with the upper hand, taking a slim 34-32 lead into intermission.
North Georgia quickly extended its lead in the second half, taking a nine point advantage with 16:57 left in the game. The Crusaders would cut the lead to seven with 14:56 left in the game, but that would be as close as NGU would get for the remainder of the game. North Greenville won the turnover battle, giving up just nine, while North Georgia gave the ball up 21 times.
North Georgia dominated the rebound game however, picking up 49 rebounds to just 20 for North Greenville. Krisceda Cotton was the leading rebound getter for NGU with five. North Greenville’s leading scorer Tyler powers finished the game with just six points. The Crusaders will wrap up the Nighthawk Classic tomorrow afternoon against Georgia College & State University at 2pm.
