CRUSADERS STRUGGLE AT MOUNT OLIVE

Mount Olive, N.C.—The North Greenville women’s basketball team dropped its second straight conference game and fourth game overall on Monday night as the Crusaders fell to the Trojans of Mount Olive College 100-63 in Conference Carolinas action. 

The Trjoans had five players in double figures as they reached the century mark and remained unbeaten on the season. Tyler Powers led NGU in scoring for the second straight game with 12 total, While Timisty Nelson also scored in double figures for the Crusaders with 10 points. 

Mount Olive jumped out to a quick lead opening the contest on a 20-2 run which spanned the first seven minutes of the opening period. The Crusaders would claw their way back into the game however, pulling to within 13 by intermission. The Trojans shot 51.4% from the field in the first half of play, en route to a 47-34 lead at the break. 

The Crusaders hung close for much of the second half before the Trojans went on their second 20-2 run of the night. The 20 point outburst gave Mount Olive a demanding 72-43 lead with just 9:59 left in the game. The Trojans reached 100 points with just 13 seconds left on a free throw from Kirksten Mitchell. The Crusaders shot just 33.8% from the field while MOC finished with a stellar 52% shooting percentage on the night.
