Wilson, N.C.—The North Greenville women’s basketball team fell to 18-6 overall, and 13-3 in Conference Carolinas play on Saturday, after dropping a weekend tilt with Barton College 75-64.
The Crusaders were led by freshman Timisty Nelson who scored 20 points. Alisha Hope was the only other Crusader in double digits with 11 points.
North Greenville trailed for the entire first half, but with 27 seconds left, Hope put the Crusaders up by two, heading into intermission. The two squads traded leads for much of the second half, but after the eighth tie of the game, Barton went on a five-minute, 20-10 run.
For the game, the Crusaders shot just 37.9% from the field, and just 25% from three. NGU’s bench once again dominated, outscoring Barton 30-5. The Crusaders also outscored the Bulldogs 36-28 in the paint.
The loss drops NGU to second place in the Western Division, behind Limestone College. The Crusaders and Saints will play in Tigerville on Tuesday night. A win from North Greenville will put them back into a first place tie. Tipoff between the Crusaders and Saints is set for 5:30pm.
