Tigerville, S.C.—Senior guard Karly Stache led all scorers with 20 points and the Crusaders shot 51% in the first half in route to a 67-54 win over conference foe Lees-McRae College in a midweek matchup in Hayes Gymnasium.
North Greenville was 16-31 from the field in the first half while the Bobcats were just 10-24 from the field. Freshman forward Courtney Friddle, who has come on strong this season, was NGU’s only other double figure scorer with 14.
The first half of Wednesday’s contest was close contested. The Bobcats controlled the advantage for most of the period but never extended their lead past four points. With after evening the score at 17, the Crusaders took their first lead of the night with 8:44 left.
The Crusaders closed out the first period hitting three shots in the last 44 seconds, including two three pointers from Stache and layup from Christina Carlis. NGU took an 11-point lead into the intermission. The Crusaders extended their lead to as many as 18 points and would never trail after gaining the lead in the first half.
The Crusaders are now 12-4 on the season, and 7-1 in Conference Carolinas play. NGU remains in second place in the Western Division behind Limestone College, and will take the court again on Saturday at 2pm against Pfieffer.
