FOUR CRUSADERS SCORE IN DOUBLE FIGURES AS NGU IMPROVES TO 6-1

Columbia, S.C.—Spurred by four double-digit scorers, the North Greenville women’s basketball team improved to 6-1 on the season after defeating Allen University 78-51 in a rematch of last week's game.

Krisceda Cotton charted her second double-double of the season with a 19-point, 10-rebound performance to lead the Crusaders in both categories. It was also Cotton's sixth game scoring in double figures.

Karly Stache had her second best outing of the season Thursday night, scoring 15 points on five three-pointers. Stache scored all 15 of her points in the second half. Alisha Hope and Aliyah Stokes also scored in double figures with 13 and 10 points respectively. The Crusaders shot 45% from the field and 40% from three-point range.

The Crusaders also showed tremendous effort defensively forcing 26 Allen turnovers. The Yellow Jackets shot just 34% from the field

“We played a good team tonight, and I’m proud of the girls,” remarked head coach Jayne Arledge after her team's sixth win of the season. “I’m really haappy with the way the team responded after struggling with them (Allen) last week, it’s always good to have four girls scoring in double figures!”

North Greenville has two more games left before the Christmas break, both of which are on the road. The Crusaders will take on Augusta State at 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 10, before wrapping up the 2011 portion of the schedule at Mars Hill College on December 13. The Crusaders and Lions will tip it off at 6 p.m. The Crusaders will return to the hardwood for the first time in 2012 on January 3 at home, in a conference showdown with fellow Conference Carolinas newcomer King College.
