Women's basketball adds offensive firepower

Tigerville, S.C. – The North Greenville women’s basketball team has announced the signing of four standout athletes to the 2011-12 team. Coach Jayne Arledge will add three freshmen and one sophomore transfer to a team that finished second in the NCCAA South Regional Tournament last season.


Freshman Timisty Nelson is a 5’ 9” guard/forward combo from South Pointe High School in Rock Hill, S.C. In her senior season, she averaged 19.6 points per game, 4.6 assists per games, 3.9 rebounds per game and 4.2 steals per game and was named team MVP while leading her team to an 18-7 overall record and a Co-Region Championship. Nelson was also an All-State selection as well as a three-time All Region selection.


Freshman Olivia Gaines is a 5’ 6” guard from Chester High School in Chester, S.C. As a senior, Gaines surpassed the 1,000 career points mark and was named to the All-State and All-Region teams as well as being honored as the Region AAA Player of the year after averaging 19.6 ppg, 8 rpg, 4 apg and 4 spg.


Freshman Allison Greene is a 5’ 6” guard from South Stanly High School in Norwood, N.C. She was named to the All-County and All-Conference teams as well as being named team MVP after averaging 15 ppg, 6 rpg and 3 apg in her senior season.

Freshman Courtney Friddle is a 6' forward from Hillcrest High School in Greenville, S.C. Friddle, a five-year varsity player for the Lady Rams was named to the All-Region team in both her junior and senior seasons as well as leading her team to the region title her senior year.


Sophomore guard Ashleigh Edwards is a 5‘ 6” transfer from Fayettville State. In her senior season at Blythewood High School in Columbia, S.C., Edwards averaged 17.5 ppg and 5 apg. While at Blythewood, she was named team captain and team MVP three of her four years on the varsity squad as well as being an All-Region selection as a basketball player and member of the women’s golf team.
