Smith leads Lady Crusaders in final game

Tigerville, S.C. – After finishing second in the 2011 NCCAA Regional Tournament, the Lady Crusader basketball team ended its season on a high note with a 92-67 victory over Allen University.

“This was a great win for us,” said head coach Jayne Arledge. “You cannot expect a better day for our senior [Brandy Smith], she led us the whole day. Everyone scored and everyone showed up and played well. It is a great way to end the season.”

North Greenville (13-14) never trailed in a game where the Lady Crusaders shot 52.3% from the floor and 50% from three-point range.

Brandy Smith, who was honored before the game as the only senior on the team, led the Lady Crusaders with a career-high 24 points on 12-of-17 shooting from the field. Smith finished her senior season as one of only six Lady Crusaders to appear in all 27 games, averaging 2.8 points per game and 2.2 rebounds per game, while shooting 46.7% from the floor.

Karly Stache, the team’s leading scorer on the season, finished the game 4-of-4 from three-point range for 16 points as well as three assists, while Raven Wamer was the only other North Greenville player in double digits with 10 points in the game. Anjelica Wilcox and Brooks Walz scored eight and seven points respectively off the bench.
