CRUSADERS FALL SHORT AGAINST EMMANUEL IN CHAMPIONSHIP

Tigerville, S.C.—The Lady Crusaders fell short of defending the NCCAA South Regional Title tonight as they fell to the Lions of Emmanuel College 76-63 in Hayes Gymnasium on Wednesday night.


 

Both teams struggled from the field shooting under 40 percent for the night. The Crusaders were 3-of-8 from three-point range and Emmanuel was 4-of-11. The Lions also out rebounded the Crusaders 54-38.

North Greenville jumped out to an early six-point lead but the Lions soon gained control of the game and took a four-point lead into intermission. Emmanuel opened the second half on a 10-0 run to take a 48-38 lead.

The Crusaders cut the lead to single digits a number of times but were unable to break through as Emmanuel led by as many as 15 points on the way to a 13 point win.

 

Three players scored in double figures for North Greenville. Christina Carlis led the team with 15 points. Krisceda Cotton added 12 points and Karly Stache added 10.

The loss to Emmanuel knocks the Crusaders out of championship contention. North Greenville will wrap the 2010-2011 season on Saturday with a 2pm game with Allen University. Senior Brandy Smith will be honored before the game for senior day.
