LADY CRUSADERS FINISH IN FOURTH PLACE AFTER LOSS TO MOUNT VERNON

Winona Lake, Indiana—The Lady Crusaders fall to number one seed Mount Vernon Nazarene 74-50 in the third place game at the NCCAA National Tournament.

The Crusaders were led by senior point guard Nikki Wood who scored eight points. Woods was also named to the all-tournament team.  Jacquetta Golden and Krisceda Cotton also scored eight points for North Greenville.
North Greenville held a small lead over Mount Vernon for most of the first half. The Cougars tied the game at 24 with 5:33 left in the first half and took their first lead at 5:19. Mount Vernon closed the first half on a 11-6 run and led 35 30 at intermission.
Despite their best efforts, the Crusaders were unable to keep up with Mount Vernon after the cougars opened the half with three, three point field in a row to open the final period of play. The Crusaders were outscored 30-20 in the final 20 minutes.
North Greenville finishes the season with a record of 15-14 and Mount Vernon improves to 11-7. For the tournament, North Greenville finished 1-2 finishing in fourth place out of eight teams.
