Winona Lake, Indiana—The Lady Crusaders entered today’s game against Ecclesia College one win away from the championship game but fell short losing 53-50 to the Lady Royals.

North Greenville had no scorers in double figures. Whitney Smith led the Crusaders with nine points and nine rebounds.  Jacquetta Golden provided support scoring eight points coming off of the bench.  For the game NGU shot a below average 33.3 percent from the field and 23.5 percent from the three point line.
North Greenville trailed by as many as five points in the first half but took the lead on a last second layup by Bridget Smith heading into intermission. The Crusaders held the lead until the four minute mark of the second period when Ecclesia took the lead by one point.  NGU regained the lead and extended it to four points with 3:37 left in the game but the scrappy Lady Royals took the lead by one with 1:40 left on the clock.
Ecclesia extended their lead to 3 points. Ecclesia missed a free throw that would have put the game all but out of reach for NGU but the missed show was rebounded by North Greenville who called timeout with seven seconds left. The Crusaders inbounded the ball with 7 seconds left but were unable to get a shot off.
With the loss North Greenville is eliminated from championship contention. The Lady Crusaders will wrap up tournament play tomorrow at 3pm in the third place game.
