Tigerville, S.C.—After clinching a birth in the NCCAA national tournament on Wednesday, the Lady Crusaders (14-12) returned home looking to finish the 2009/2010 regular season with a win but fell to Morris College on senior day 84-80.
In the first half the Crusaders were led by guards whitney Smith (13 points) and Karly Stache (10 points). Offensive leaders for the game were Whitney Smith who scored 24 points, Krisceda Cotton who scored 17, and Karly Stache who scored 18. The first seven minutes of play were a back and forth and had four ties and two lead changes. The Crusaders began to pull away with 12:52 left in the half. With the help of clutch three point shooting North Greenville led at half 44-29.
NGU held the lead until the 11:09 mark when the Hornets tied the game at 60. The last 10 minutes of the contest had eight lead changes and five ties. Morris took the lead for the final time with 1:45 left and would go on to win. The Lady Crusaders will take the next two weeks off to prepare for the NCCAA National Tournament in Winona Lake, Indiana on March 11-13.
