LADY CRUSADERS COME UP SHORT IN AUGUSTA

Augusta, Ga.—Despite holding a lead late in the game, the Lady Crusaders were unable to leave Augusta with a victory losing to USC-Aiken 56-44.

The Crusaders were lead by senior guard Nikki Wood who tallied 8 points and Krisceda Cotton grabbed 12 rebounds in the Saturday afternoon matchup. Today’s was a defensive battle that saw 6 lead changes. The Crusaders took a late lead with 9 minutes left 41-39. USC Aiken was quick to regain the advantage and would not relinquish it.
The Crusaders were forced to foul with six minutes left in the game allowing the Pacers to build a lead. USC Aiken was 15 of 26 from the charity stripe compared to NGU’s 9 of 10. “It was a defensive battle” said head coach Jayne Arledge, “I feel like we played pretty well and battled hard but we were forced to foul and they made their free throws.”

The Lady Crusaders will be in action again on November 23rd against Southern Wesleyan.
