Raleigh, N.C.—The North Greenville women’s basketball team traveled Raleigh North Carolina Monday night to take on the Wolfpack of North Carolina State University. NC State would go on to win the pre-season tilt 87-44 over the Crusaders.

 NC State is the second NCAA Division I program a North Greenville athletic team has played in the last two weeks following the men’s soccer match versus Clemson on October 28th.

The Wolfpack wasted little time flexing their muscles against North Greenville. Following the tipoff NC State went on an 11-0 run to open the game. The Pack would race to 15-2 score 10 minutes into the game. The Crusaders closed the gap to within 8 however NC State would widen its lead making the half time score 42-17.
Senior Nikki Wood and sophomore Christina Carlis lead the Lady Crusaders in the first half each scoring 5 points.   The Second half started the way the first half ended as NC State continued its consistent scoring increasing their first half lead. With 10 minutes left in the second half the Wolfpack were ahead 61-27.  NC State would pile on 26 more points before the end of the game making the final 87 to 44.

“I thought we played very well” said head Coach Jayne Arledge, “Their size and speed got to us a bunch of times but the girls played hard the entire game and never gave up.” Leaders for the Crusaders were Karly Stache and Nikki Wood who both finished with nine points. Brandy Smith and Christina Carlis lead the team each Collecting four rebounds. The Lady Crusaders have one more exhibition game against USC Upstate on November 13th followed by their season opener on November 17th against Newberry.
