Less than a week from leaving the NCCAA regional tournament empty handed the Lady Crusaders returned to Tigerville for the last game of the 2009 season against West Georgia.
The Lady Crusaders started the day off strong leading the first half up until the 3:35 mark when West Georgia took the lead 33-32 and would not look back.
On “Senior Day” the Crusaders were lead by senior Amanda Milner with 22 points and 9 rebounds and junior Nikki Wood with 15 points.
Christina Carlis also had a good day scoring 12 points. The Crusaders were matched against a tuff defense in West Georgia which forced 17 turnovers and scored 17 points off of those turnovers. “West Georgia was a good defensive team” Coach Jane Arledge said “and they could also shoot the ball very well.” The Wolves shot 53% from the field and 33% from three point range on Saturday.
The Lady Crusaders finished the day shooting 42% from the field and 31% from three point land.
The Crusaders outscored the Wolves 15-13 on second chance points and NGU’s bench outscored West Georgia’s bench 23-16. “It was a very up and down year for us” Arledge said “we look forward to working hard in the offseason this year and preparing for success next season.”
